The hotel staff was incredible! For example, Kamal became our guide for the two days - he took us everywhere we wanted to go, at whatever time we needed, and helped us with bus transportation to our next destination. We had dinner one night at the riad and the tangine we ordered was excellent as well. The cafe au lait at breakfast was a welcome treat. All of the people we met were so helpful, for example, our luggage was lost for the entire length of our stay. The last day, the staff phoned the hotel, located our luggage, and had it transported to the hotel at midnight! We loved Essaouira, the riad, the breakfast, and the staff!
The towels.

The relaxed atmosphere and evenings spent listening to a variety of local musicians entertaining almost every night in the cafe riad. Music ranged from singer song writers, pop/rock classics to local drumming in an intimate folk club atmosphere
The room had I think been recently decorated and had a slight smell of new distemper

The location is excellent. a quiet alleyway, but either end of it are the shops and markets. Close to everything. The staff are very friendly and helpful - even recommended a hammam for us and made the booking. Breakfast good. The music of an evening was great for us - but may not suit everyone (see below). Also a positive for us was they sell alcohol and we could sit, listen to the music and have a wine - I didn't find that in any other riads we stayed at. All in all, an enjoyable stay.
The stairs up to the rooms! Very steep and narrow - if you have mobility problems, this is not the place for you. We are reasonably fit, but with the remnants of a few old knee & ankle injuries, we really felt the effort required to walk these stairs. The courtyard area turns into a cafe with music of an evening - this won't suit everyone - the noise really carries to the rooms above. We were there 3 nights, and the Saturday was definitely the loudest. Locals came in to enjoy the music and even after the music finished they stayed on talking & laughing til quite late. Sunday it was closed, so quiet. Monday was quieter - less people came in. That was the night we sat, listened to a Moroccan singing Johnny Cash (Ha!), and had a few wines.

The Riad has live music most evenings which were great - a good mixture of genres and didn't go on too late for those who would be worried about getting some sleep. The food looked fantastic but we didn't end up eating there - something we really regretted. As for the rooms - clean, comfortable and very good value for money, and the location is perfect. We will be recommending this Riad to our friends who are coming to Morocco next year.

It was very good located, the room was really good,
The shower was small. And it has stars to the room so bring light luggage!

The adress is wrong, and the staff does't care much about it. If you want to find it, look for the address of Riad Amira Victoria. The Riad Sidi Magdoul is on a little street (dead end) to the left, some meters ahead of the Amira Victoria. Good luck!

My husband and two daughters (12 & 10) spent four days at Riad Sidi Magdoul and loved it. The riad is so sweet and special. Plus the location of the women's hamam down the street was perfect for our daily bath. My girls loved the hamam. The staff was especially helpful and courteous. I give this place a big thumbs up and look forward to a return visit.
